The 91ɫ��Ƭ91ɫ��Ƭ University is partnering with Children91ɫ��Ƭ Hunger Fund to host “Run The Beast and Feed The Hungry” on Jan. 21 in Newhall, Calif.

The event is a run/walk/hike of one of the Santa Clarita Valley91ɫ��Ƭ most well-known trails — “The Beast” — from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Registration is $25. Participants are encouraged to donate food from the list below, and monetary donations are also accepted.

The deadline to register is Jan. 16. You can sign up and learn more at . Donations are welcome at any point during the event, but the run begins at 7:30. Registration fees include an event T-shirt.

All donations collected will go directly to Children91ɫ��Ƭ Hunger Fund, a Christian non-profit that packages boxes of non-perishable food to deliver to children in need, along with a gospel presentation — a mission that closely aligns with the heart of TMU. “Run The Beast and Feed The Hungry” is not primarily a race. There is no pressure or expectation to compete as participants make their way up the steep, 4.8-mile dirt trail (9.6 miles round trip).

“Hike it, walk it, only go part of the way if you like. It91ɫ��Ƭ not timed. It91ɫ��Ƭ not a competitive run,” said Zach Schroeder, TMU91ɫ��Ƭ cross country and track and field coach and the event91ɫ��Ƭ organizer. “It91ɫ��Ƭ a chance to come out and go on a trek for a good cause.”

• Can of tomato sauce (15oz)
• Can of vegetables (15oz)
• Can of black or pinto beans (15oz)
• Can of tuna (5oz)
• 3 Gummy fruit snacks (1.5oz ea.)
• 3 Boxes of raisins (1oz ea.)
• 2 Fruit/applesauce squeeze pouches (3.2oz ea.)
• 4 Breakfast/cereal bars (1.3oz ea.)
• 3 Peanut Butter to-go cups (1oz ea.)
• 2 Pouches of cookies or crackers (1oz ea.)

Any donations are appreciated, but if at all possible, please pay attention to the specified amounts in the parenthesis above. This makes it easier to evenly pack the Children91ɫ��Ƭ Hunger Fund “Food Paks.”
